A Study on the Occupation Life Expectancy


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to measure life expectancy by occupation. Data used in the occupation life table were obtained from ¢¥Abridged Life Table of 1999¢¥, ¢¥Annual Report on The Live Births and Deaths Statistics in 1999¢¥, and ¢¥Annual Report on The Economically Active Population Survey in 1999¢¥ published by National Statistical Office of Korea.
¥°. Average life span by employment status were as follow:
(¥°) In the case of males, average life span was 75.13 years for those who were employed and 60.17 years for those who were not unemployed.
(¥±) In the case of females, average life span was 80.67 years for those who were employed and 77.50 years for those who were not unemployed.
¥±. Average life spans by order of specific occupation were as follows:
In the case of males, average life span was 77.72 years for senior managers, 77.18 years for craft workers and machine operators, 76.66 years for technicians, 75.61 years for professionals, 75.31 years for elementary occupations, 74.46 years for sale and service workers, 68.76 years for clerks, and 66.11 years for agricultural and fishery workers.
